I have deactivated autofill from LastPass on my mobile devices. I have deleted the app from my mobile devices. I am now accessing the site using Safari on all my devices, iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. I continued using the mobile app on my phone, as instructed by the helpful Amazon representative I spoke with. I had done nothing that could have brought about the change. However, around the date I should have received the email the site started accepting my password. I never received the promised email with suggested solutions to the problem. Reporting back on resolution of the difficulty I was having signing on to the Amazon website. Meantime I’m not going to do anything till I hear back from Amazon about this problem. When all this gets cleared up I’m going to disable LastPass and rely just on Safari for password management. I wish there was.) But that doesn’t explain why the LastPass password persists even after I’ve created a new password on the Amazon website.

And there is no way to force it to do so. (Safari doesn’t always suggest a password when a new one is needed. I suspect at some point I may have used a password suggested by LastPass. I have no idea how Amazon got that password.

#Lastpass for safari update#
It was the password I got when I allowed Safari to update the password to what Amazon had. Later in the day I thought to check the password in LastPass. So I started over and created a new password on the Amazon website. It was unlike any Safari would have suggested. Or rather, my use of them.Īt one point yesterday I accepted Safari's suggestion to update the password stored on it to the one Amazon has, then checked to see what it was. I suspect a conflict between Safari’s management of passwords and LastPass’s management of them. I use LastPass, the password management app, but have come to rely mostly on Safari's management because it is just more convenient. Regarding your summary of the situation, yes to all except the browser on the iPad. And as I said, she knew what she was doing. The woman at Amazon was quite confused too.
